jack plug design
jack plug design
hi
this is maybe a long shot but i thought i'd ask as ive tried google and suchlike with no success so far....
im doing a project at college which involves making a mono jack plug from scratch, so does anyone know where i can get a copy of an accurate technical drawing or plan of a jack plug? like in cross section or something with dimensions and angles etc etc
many thanks

get a pair of calipers and measure one.
well i dont need to make one but i want to make one, only i want it to be like land of the giants style, about a foot long and all in proportion. im doing a sonic art degree and i have to make a piece for an exhibition. obviously i wont be able to plug it into anything but i want it to make the same noise that a normal sized plug makes when you touch the tip or sleeve. then using it with a distortion pedal i can use it like some kind of musical instrument.
listen to 'add hapter' on my site, it's a track i made with a regular sized jack plug :

so yeh, using some pics from the net and my own limited expertise in technical drawing, i shall attempt to draw one so i can get it scaled up and machined at the workshop at college.
i need to customise my distortion pedal too but i think i got that sussed
cheers for the advice anyhow folks
