Live 8.3 and ClyphX = fail

Hello all,

To my frustration, Live 8.3 is no longer compatible with ClyphX 2 MIDI remote script. If I try to put the "ClyphX" folder containing the script files to Ableton Live 8.app/Contents/App-Resources/MIDI Remote Scripts, Live will fail to start with the following message:

An error occurred while trying to open "Ableton Live 8.app".
/Applications/Ableton Live 8.app

Has anyone else experienced the same issue? Any ways to solve it now ?

I guess you should use your former Live version,

and contact clyphX developers about the problem,

hope they'll update their remote script

PS: Live 8.3 seems really not worth the update... I'm sticking with 8.2.6.

Ok, there are no changes to the API mentioned in the change log,
so I guess it should only be ClyphX looking for files in the wrong
folder as the installation path of Live has changed with 8.3...

I just read the thread again.
I would understand if ClyphX would not run - strange
that LIVE does not start. Well, the ClyphX developer
knows it much better than I do...

Moreover, Live crashes but there is no crash report in the usual location (on the Mac: Macintosh HD/User/Library/Application Support/Live Reports/Ableton Crash Report*). Go figure..

Reported it to Ableton support.

No problem here to open Live 8.3 ( OS-X 10.6.8 ) with CliveX as a Control Surface.

Hi,

I just installed Live 8.3 from ableton_suite_83_program_only.dmg package and indeed it works ! Installing ableton_suite_83_with_content.dmg and putting ClyphX into Remote MIDI Scripts doesn't!

I couldn’t say offhand what could cause that but, if you’d like to troubleshoot it further, please create a post on our forum and include your Log.txt file (the Troubleshooting section of the ClyphX manual covers how to do that).

FWIW, there are a couple of features in ClyphX v2.0.3 that won’t work with Live 8.3. A new version of ClyphX (v2.0.4) was posted today that rectifies this. If you’re using ClyphX with 8.3, please use the new version of ClyphX.
