I have an issue with groups. I really love them (fav. feature in 8 ), but it's annoying if you work on the arragment and want to copy/duplicate parts, because the content won't get copied/duplicated.
- Create a group with a midi track and/or a audio track
- put some content on the tracks
- close the group
- copy/duplicate it
result:
nothing is duplicated
I like to structure the chaos in the arrange view with groups. For example, it's great to "fold" 5 or more audio tracks from a vocal part - just to clear up your screen space.
I would like to copy/duplicate this "chunks" in arrange view like a normal midi or audio part.
duplicate/copy the content from groups in arrange view

no one else have a problem with that? in the general forum I had some supporters, I guess they are not looking in this section?

I've just started to incorporate groups into my work flow, and this is a strange and limiting omission....

Re: duplicate/copy the content from groups in arrange view
i am with you mr. ergonomics - this is an INSANE omission!
i am working with an arrangement of about 40 tracks, the groups make it possible to get everything onto one screen.. but i have to open every group up if i want to duplicate a section of my track. RIDICULOUS!!
while we're on the topic, why won't grouped tracks edit together? if you have ever used edit groups in protools you know how this should work.. i mean its freakin obvious.
if you're gonna do it, do it right ableton - sheesh!
okay back to 20 minutes of editing i have to do again because of this...
