Next Live 8.0.5 beta is online: Live 8.0.5b6!

Post by Alex » Fri Jul 24, 2009 5:48 pm

Hi folks,

We just released the sixth beta version of an upcoming 8.0.5 bugfix update.
Every Live 8 owner can use this beta version.

As it is a beta, please remember to backup critical data before you use it.

Version info:

Current version: Live 8.0.5b6
Expiration date: 2009/08/01
Required serial: Live 8 full version

Download info:

http://downloads.ableton.com/extra/5839 ... ent_en.dmg
http://downloads.ableton.com/extra/5839 ... ent_en.zip

Kind Regards
/Alex

Changes from Live 8.0.5b5 to 8.0.5b6:

Improvements:

Having an unfolded Live set file in the browser, now the tracks from that Live set can be inserted into the current set by double clicking too. In earlier versions it was only possible via drag'n drop.

Bugfixes:

Using +/- keys to control the zoom factor while highlighting a selection area would not work properly [5536]

When dragging devices from the browser into Session view, Live would not auto scroll to "out of sight" tracks [5710]

In a clip view, moving the loop brace would be constrained by the left border of the view [5719]

A Live set with devices locked to a particular controller surface would not work with that controller surface after reopening [5723]

On Windows, when allowing several instances of Live, processing a share link or the unlocking of Live would still start a second instance [5523]

Uninstalling a content package would fail when a sample contained in the package is currently active, like browser preview [5557]

Is there anything in 0.5b6 that addresses the issues people are having with Live 8.0.4 crashing permanently due to bad RAM management when you add new instances of Rompler VSTs or open sessions with Rompler VSTs (like Omnisphere) in them? This issue is critical to my continuing use of the program and basically stops me being able to use the program for writing and production.

An example of this is that my PC is saying that I have more than 1.5GB of RAM available yet when I add a Rompler VST or any VST that uses a lot of RAM to a session using 1GB of RAM I get a permanent 'Serious Program Error' crash. These are not huge sessions and my PC should be able to handle them with no issues. There is no warning prior to the crash and my PC is not under any great strain. You have to power down the PC manually as it won't shut down too.

I have had a lot of people report this bug but I can't see anyone recognising it and support have not got back to me after I sent in my log file and reported this problem last week and the week before.

Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Actually if you turn off / disconnect your MIDI hardware it will release the program and it will close properly (after a crash).

PS. Download the BETA and test for yourself, you don't need to overwrite your existing installation...

DOn't know if this bug as been reported with 8.0.4 but I'm lost in the forum so I'm going to post it here.
I'm using a Mackie control universal which works fine with Live except the vertical zoom. If I use the vertical zoom button on the mackie Live just increase the size of the track but not the size of the wave file inside the track: Image which is rather annoying.

Thanks for your time

(let me know if i'm in the wrong page :)
