Add comments to your tracks in the arrangement view...
This has been very useful for me. Let me know what you think or if you have another way of doing it.
1. create a new midi track (as the last track of the song)
2. select a section, e.g. 16 bars
3. press CTRL+Shift+M to create a new midi clip
4. press CTRL+R to rename the clip
5. type your comment, e.g. "cut high-frequeny" or "add automation"
Other variations: colour-code the comment clips, add multiple comment tracks, insert comment tracks between the song tracks, etc.
I imagine this will also be useful in a collaboration...

It is also handy to add more detailed comments in the info text for the tracks, master, individual racks etc.

Yah... I've tried that. Although you can add more text, it's not very practical and it didn't fit-in with my workflow. Also, I usually have the info box closed.Quantize wrote:It is also handy to add more detailed comments in the info text for the tracks, master, individual racks etc.

we need proper tagging and meta data embeds.
Re: Add comments to your tracks in the arrangement view...
You could add a locator at the top of the Arrangement view and write your comment there...
Re: Add comments to your tracks in the arrangement view...
I tried that also. It works for some types of short comments but the font is too small. Also, it can get pretty messy with multiple comments close together...geo wrote:You could add a locator at the top of the Arrangement view and write your comment there...
Thank you all for your sugggestions so far. The method I described in the OP is the most convenient and flexible way (for me) to add comments in the arrangement view. It really works very well...

Actually the font is the same as with the clip renaming technique you describe...araz wrote: I tried that also. It works for some types of short comments but the font is too small.

You are right, I had not noticed that.
Regardless, I find the midi clips more convenient to work with: they are stackable on multiple tracks, easily movable to anywhere on the arrangement view, re-sizable, and you can even colour-code them.
Actually, the more I use it, the more I like it.
Take care,
