You would do this for a radio show and then add mad transitions and extra effects, not for a live gig.

If it's any consolation, the projects from Live 6 imported in perfectly to Live 7 don't be afraid to continue with Live 6 and just jump on 7 when you get the serial

Maybe the artist was actually playing off CDJs for that song, that would be rather normal. They don't have to use Ableton 100% of the time.
