Beats and drugs? How many?
In an ealier thread I asked how many people involved in electronic music do drugs regularly. They suggested I start another topic. Okay.
I've never done a drug in my life, alcohol included, but I love electronic music. How weird is that? I'm not particularly bothered by other people's lifestyle choices. I just never chose to alter my reality in that way.
Perhaps a pile of blow and some dead hookers would change my mind.

it's not weird that you can listen and enjoy electronic (dance?) music sober. I do too, most of the times But nonetheless you have to acknowledge that part of the feeling is being 'out there' & 'having it' & 'being sorted' etc ... for ravers in general I mean. I like a crowd coming on. Say 33% MDMA + 50% Alcohol + 25% THC, but that's just a guess...

I like to bring my shovel and get deep on things...
Every once in a while, I'll find a tall hill and a big tire. I'll crawl in, and roll down...
And what's more fun?
Walkin' with my laces loose trying not to fall while I trip.
Been thru a snow storm once or twice.... That was interesting, but I'm a tropical cat, keep me out the cold.

well if you ever do drugs like e when you are out clubbing, you will know why clubbers take it. it enhances your appreciation and awareness of the music.
so if you transfer that to your music making, you may find that you can make better music. although on the other hand you might not.

1.6ghz dual core laptop, 1.5 gig ram - Live 6, Massive, Albino, Z3ta, Battery, Morphine, Dominator. Alesis io2, Edirol pcr-30 midi keyboard, perception 100 mic and shure sm 58 mic.
Silverfish, I've been into music for about 30 years now and never done drugs, I don't smoke cigarette neither, but the rest...yes...I mean...alcohol,sex,scandals,orgies,etc.
Now...since I'm into electronic music, I keep sober while playing but once my expensive equipment (at least for me ) is unplugged and safe ...the party starts.
I don't need drugs to be comfortable.

surely when we were kids ALL OF US spun around in circles on the lawn until we fell down. that's the gateway drug, some of us just liked it more. thank my parents for getting me one of these:
I'd spend days doing that. (the yellow part stays is stationary, the blue seat rotates, called a Sit n Spin.)
as for music. sobriety is hugely important, as is exploring your headspace, however you choose to do that.
