I would. Especially if you can set up the whole screen on the iphone/ipod as a MIDI X/Y controller! or a bunch of Session View clips! 8)

well, sir,
big M
your wishes are already implemented...

4X4 and 8X8 button matrix with feedback, xy controller plus a standard keyboard ranging C-2 -> C8 with pitch bend

more info at itouchmidi.com
pm me if you re interested in testing it,
you will need a 2.0 device and a osx 10.5 machine...

next up:
today i just experimented with mcu protocol and created a simple transport app,
mixer with bank up bank down, mutes and solos coming next...
a rack controller is next on plans aswell

if only the app store was´n so overwhelmed i guess it would be available already...
it was submited exactly a week ago
and when it goes online i´ll have a much improved version submited and waiting for the update to get delivered...

Dude, I volunteer to be tested. Er, a beta tester. Downloading the dmg now. Anything else I need?

This looks like the start of something way cool.

nop,

shame on me, i know...
i swear im not sponsored by sj or any of his affiliates to try to captivate ppl into leopard

i tried, but unfortunately the host app does not compile for 10.4
i think it has to do with the network services used but i really would like to make it 10.4 compatible,
well to be fair, wintel should be on future plans as well...

but i still have so much ideas regarding the concept itself and some uis i know i want to implement that i can´t really target these (important) issues

i suppose 10.5 is really out of question ?

Just saw this post - your app sounds very cool. I'd be glad to help beta test it if you can still use more help.

MBP C2D OSX 10.5.3
Ableton Live 7.0.9
iPod Touch 16 GB

Can't wait for it to show up on the store...

Sounds good, because there's a TON of users who still have not moved to Leopard.

Just installed and playing about. The matrix grid control is really tasty. I've set up bottom slots as mutes/solos and top buttons to trigger clips. Nice that follow actions etc. are mimic'd on the iphone. Be good if there was a way to alter colours or label though, as it can be a bit difficult to quickly see what grid you're on. maybe just annotating the axis would help? There's a bit of latency playing the keyboard and hearing the sound output, but not sure if this is my hardware set up or my iPhone has been a bit sluggish recently after installing the beatmaker app. I'll have a play over the next few days and see if I can give some better feedback.

I talked about the latency in another thread. By all accounts it seems to be a 2.0 issue.

How did you feel about turning over your iPhone ID number? Not crazy about that bit - guess it's a way to tailor the beta to specific phones? Hmm.

no,
the id request is necessary and requested for the only way to make an app run in your phone without going thru the app store
it is called ad hoc distribution

to be fair,
i dont really know what can someone do with that id number except allow some app to run on it

formatk:
as i told you i have not been aware of latency issues with itouchmidi yet, no such reports from other testers, yet...

if you feel it can be related hardware you could try to restore your device os

the ui is still barebones , exactly to target performance issues...

landrvr1:
unfortunatelly you are not currently listed in the beta test,
so i suppose you re not talking about itouchmid latency...
are you aware of such issues with other apps ?

ah, yea i think there's definately bugs in 2.0, text messaging and google maps sometimes hangs for ages resorting to me restarting the phone. I'm still using the original iPhone, maybethis will improve on the new one, otherwise I'll hang on upgrading to the 3G until the new software update.

Yeah the phone ID number is a bit weird, but I assumed it was a hack around in order to get the app working without registering/going through the app store.
