Text to speech

Post by soundtechdan » Tue Jun 10, 2008 5:29 pm

hi

I'm looking for something that can do text to speech. I know about shit talker but I want it for mac. I would ideally want to have it as human as possible but if not any old noise that sounds like speech will do.

Anyone help

cheers

you can just use TextEdit that comes with OS X. just type something and choose Edit > Speech. if you want to save it out then i suggest using Automator, it has a text to audio file action that works great.

the voices in Tiger are shit but the new voice in Leopard is very, very good. sounds real.

Open up terminal in OS X.

Input: say "Hello World"

enjoy

fwiw, this seems like a way you can "upgrade" your OS-specific voices for $30
