Amaury's beard is starting to get big enough to develop some serious technologies. We will soon lock him in a room without forum access and observe what kind of results we get. I reckon sentience is just around the corner.

I have a friend in SF who is a DJ and hair stylist. I sometimes check his picture on his myspace page to see what is hip in head styling.

Let me check.

Looks like beards are in, or at least the makings of one. I'll check back next week to see if it's going to be full grown or uncommitted.

Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

other than using the beard as a backup repository for food, what other tips and advice do you guys have for maintaining your beards?

do you use shampoo and condition your beards? .. trim them regularly or let it grow?

how to avoid looking like you're about to wage Jihad or came out of a homeless shelter?

all advice appreciate !
After you grow your first to a length where it looks like you have an actual beard as opposed to just haven't been shaving, get one of the narrow rechargable clipper things trim it down to your skin in the way you want [edit] regarding the shape on your face (not the length, for example, if you are going want it just along jawline, have 'soul patch', etc). Then, shave that part that you just trimmed off with a razor (you want several blades on that razor, one a them Mach 9s or whatever).

THEN, let your beard grow out to the length you want, keeping the parts you don't want with beard trimmed daily or every other with the razor.

BUT, if it the resulting beard is all downy and wispy, trim it all down stubble close using only the trimmer gizmo, and let it grow back in, keeping up the routine to maintain the shape you want with the Mach 5. This will get you a thicker beard that looks like a beard as opposed to homeless.
