Hi guys,

Yeah I'm on XP on this one. Prolly a home edition also to save resources. I got my windows running nicely under 100 mb total.

I will do the latency and stress tests soon ... I first need to rollback SP3 as after installing the f*kn machine doesn't even find the FF400 anymore ... Ah the joy of computing  ...

I'll get a screenshot to ya guys soon!

Cheers and thank for the help!

P.

Someone on the RME forum also reported problems with his Fireface and SP3, but I don't have any such problems at all, everything's running smooth.

Disable devices via device-manager until you find the one producing the latency. Disable Windows power-scheme (use Desktop or Always On).

ok.. i'm back.

i made a mistake when i tested firewire card.

what i seen today ? problem with DPC latency exist without connected FW card.

i tried to disable any possible devices, any possible utils in memory.

i only start windows and DPC LATENCY utility:

GREEN GREEN max RED!!! GREEN GREEN

i don't understand it, WHY WHY WHY this don't work ?!?!

i thought that my card is broken or something, but i see that problem is with laptop.

Timur do you have any propositions to identify this latency ?

ok... i found on the other forums that TOSHIBA LAPTOP SATELLITE A100 generate this latency when fan is switching ON , and switching OFF...

i searched forums to find the fix, but still people don't know to do.

proposition is to keep the fan always ON, but who know utility/option to do this ??

Try "Speedfan", it can control a wide variety of fans and gives you full control over your fan.

i tried speedfan - take no effect.

fan in toshiba is control by ACPI.

i think last chance is Notebook Hardware Control with personal ACPI configuration if it's posible.

I'm using the DPC utility at the moment - very useful. I've found that my Tascam US-122L soundcard/interface and my internal wireless network device are causing violent spikes. I will set about fixing the mess tomorrow. This is actually a complete fucking ballache and I think this is pushing me towards getting a Macbook.

I've now discovered that various things are IRQ sharing on my machine - including what appears to be a sound driver and a wireless device. So the next ploy is to give these things their own IRQs.

I don't want to have to disable my internet connection everytime I use Live. What a nightmare. Hopefully changing the IRQs will resolve this.

I have a serious question to ask: is my Tascam US-122L USB soundcard just shit? I've tried moving it onto all different USB ports so it gets a different IRQ and every time the latency goes back up. I'm using the latest drivers from the Tascam site. If it's just a useless device then i'll get a better one.. has anyone any clues? My latency is running at 500us with the Tascam on; off, it's minimal (12-70us) but still with the spike caused by my wireless device. If I also turn off the wireless device, it's a steady 12-30us.
