Take two audio tracks.
play both together.
move the volume faders of one up and down.
Glitchorama.

cpu spikes right up to 500+%

wonder if stare at it long enough and do nothing else, will i see cpu spikes?

This is an issue with your setup... not with Ableton Live...

cids i have to counter you and support cache's post.

this is definately a big fucking bug of ableton 7.
just look up on the forum. loads of people have the same problem.
i tried all possible settings, work with very good professional hardware, and have the same gliitch à gogo problem, and even also with only two tracks.

yes you can adjust your settings, so that it happens a tiny little bit less...but hohoho...it still is every two minutes in my case, and thats really rediculous...
anyway, i have to stop writing about this bug...just have to wait for an update, and hope it fixes it, otherwise i'm pretty fucked...paying for an application which is impossible to work with.

Ditto.

My Mac is very unhappy and glitchy with Live 7....back to 6.0.10 on that.

Fewer Live 7 probs on my XP lappy - go figure.

yeah, i'm sure there are things i can do to lessen the frequency of the glitch/cpu spike.

but i'm happy with my environment as is and remember i'm only running two audio tracks. no vstis loaded.

i understand ableton are aware of this type of problem and are working to remedy it.

i'm just concerned that a problem of this magnitude got into the release candidate.

maybe a more open beta would encourage more beta testers (ie not having to register the components with the beta serials)
the reason i didn't beta test was because it was too much hassle transferring keys as my studio is not connected to the internet.

lets hope the fix is soon i really want to get into LIVE 7 as it does sound good from the bits i've been able to road test.

exactly the same here. just put Live 7 on my mac and regardless of CPU usage I get enormous CPU spikes at fairly random intervals, roughly every 30 seconds. more frequent if ive got a lot of plugins running but present even below 10% cpu usage. i've had zero problems on XP though. havnt had a single crash or glitch on that since Live 7 was in beta.

Sorry to hear this but although I know that there are some bugs in Live, I'm working fine with Live 7 from day 1...

Are you playing the same audio on both? Any more details? NOt doubting you, I just can't reproduce this. Controlling volume via midi, or with a mouse?

yeah i have similar problems on my macbook (2ghz 2gb ram)....it seems like it might be graphics related...I also get serious glitches when I scroll through the scene window up and down...it really sucks though, Live 7 is basically unusable for me, I can't believe this didn't come up in the beta testing, every audio clip I try to play glitches when first played, and then is fine...doesn't matter if it's loaded into RAM or not.... this really should be fixed already

I am also having CPU problems, particularly when loading clips warped in complex mode.

Not only am I having CPU spikes, on occasion everything s l o w s down...

I mean the tempo drops like 10-15bpm whilst the tempo box reads the same. ie: BPM reads 128bpm but actually playing at like 110bpm.

I have to exit and restart Live 7 to get rid of it.

Anyone else experienced this tempo drop problem too?

oh weird I thought I was going crazy, but this happened to me too...I couldn't figure out what the hell caused it....changing the tempo had no effect...the weird thing was it happened to me in Live 6 after I installed Live 7....so whatever the hell that means :(

has the bug fix (7.0.2) fixed this for anyone?

does anyone have a work around for this?

ableton support hasn't gotten back to me and I'd really like to be able to use 7

Are you guys using external usb or firewire interfaces???
I've had glitches even with Live 6 when I only used the internal soundcard on my lappy. As soon as I connected my USB interface, all was well. This happens "ofcourse" also with my Live 7.01.

yeah I'm using the internal soundcard on my macbook, because I had glitches in Live 6 with my USB audio interface when I used the trackpad (they share the usb bus). The issue with me is, Live 6 worked just great with my internal sound card (which isn't bad BTW 24bit 96khz), but no matter what I try I can't get Live 7 to stop glitching. I haven't tried out my USB audio interface yet with 7, because I now prefer using the built in sound card (less shit to carry around) and I see no reason Live 7 shouldn't be able to work with the stock sound card on a Mac when Live 6 works just fine.
