You can take the samples without the Liveset and import it too live, simpler, sampler, drurack, impulse.
I know..

but why does this set freeze my Mac?

It might help. The thing with the MD is not really the sounds themselves, though. Rather the intuitive and flexible sequencer and how it actually interacts with the synthesis as well as with the pattern making.

interested to see how well it can be emulated though - i'm sure Live can do the same things to the samples if anyone can be bothered mapping it all out

both on my MPB and G5 I'm not able to open the set..
Live just freezes..

edit:
did you save all samples in RAM?

any chane of a 1.0.1 with RAM mode turned off for us lowly low RAMers??
