Post by kabelton » Sun Oct 07, 2007 8:55 pm

..i downloaded the live 7 beta... and tested the graphic performance with my big liveset...and... i cant believe that... its even worser than in live 6. now, the zooming sticks everytime, you have to wait for seconds after moving your mouse...

wtf???

for one this is a beta.. so better judgement when final release is out I guess..

also; it has a build-in bug reporter running which might add some to the cpu load..

I don't experience any problems you describe though..

Hi Kabelton,

Please open a thread in the beta forum about your issue, and give as many details as possible about your system and the set you're working with. The behaviour you describe is not what we expect to happen. The situation should be better in Live 7.0b2 than in Live 6:

Improvements

Improved the performance when zooming into (especially larger) audio files.

maybe look at the fact that youre running a 1.8G centrino with 1gb ram.

that is the barest minimum id try to run any sequencer these days, if you want to use any FX or virtual instruments.

... my liveset never reaches 50% on the live cpu meter... and i tested my set on a decent dualcore pc (live 6 btw.) it was the same. you cant get rid of this problem with any super high end monster machine.. its a live problem...and a really big one!

there are hundreds of posts from many other users, so...

Eh? I've got four operators and two samplers all with effects running in the background right now on my 1.33 GHz iBook G4... CPU meter on the right side of 50%, too...
Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

thats a load of crap. I run a single 1600mhz cpu with a gig of ram and I have no problems with new software. an 1.8 Centrino should be fine.

I'm not really sure this problem lies only in the CPU realm, just like I don't think it's the time to make judgements on this when it's only a very early beta.

i really hope you are right, but i think this problem needs big changes in a deeper programming level... before alpha versions. so sad.

Hi,

What about bringing the issue to the beta forum? That's the best that can happen in order to lok and fix your issue. As I said, in our tests, it's much better in 7 since the latest beta. And it also got a lot better from Live 5 to 6. If it's not your experience, it would be interesting to know where the problem is.

is it like this:
you have a large set in arrangement view.
and when you zoom in using the mouse it goes all smooth
until you reach a certain zoom factor and then it goes very
slow all of a sudden (looks like it freezes completely) ?

if so i experienced that in live 6 some weeks ago for the
first time - i never had large sets before. i mailed to support
and they asked a lot of questions, but it all sounded like
they had NEEEVER heard about that problem before.......
