Sometimes I get the feeling that these posts are started by an ELIZA type program running an elaborate Turing Test on this forum. It seems to follow a fairly common format:
1 - Vague, unsubstantiated claims about audio quality
2 - Response forum members requesting proof
3 - Rinse, repeat
Anyhoo, what I did want to ask is, can someone point me in the direction of what they think is a good mix done in Ableton. I downloaded some of Tarekith's stuff after reading his awesome guide to mastering and I thought it sounded amazing. I would like to hear some Ableton mixes done by people who are very good at it. i.e. better then me, which doesn't take much.
Would Monolake be a good starting point?

It's all a sham. Everybody actually uses Logic, no song has ever been made with Live because it clearly sounds so bad.splonge wrote:Sometimes I get the feeling that these posts are started by an ELIZA type program running an elaborate Turing Test on this forum. lm you again crack me up.
Radib get a life - if you do know anything about what you are talking about, you have zero communication skills - more likely you are babbling self-importantly, and you have completely failed to make anything but an arse of yourself.
But keep going, please, its entertaining.

I have a life, because of that I know the difference between Live and Cubase. It´s like cheap Crystal vs. nice Heroin. Or TV vs. a sweet girl.
And: "communication skills" really sounds terrible.

I own Cubase SX3 and every Cubase before this up to the old vst 3.5, so vst 3.5, vst 5, SX, SX2 and SX3. Live 6 is my first experience with Ableton.
There is no difference if the pan law is set the same.
I prefer Cubase for mixing because it has better mixer views and metering but the end product is the same and in fact, I mostly mix in Live now because I got tired of having to export the .wav files from Live to Cubase and import them into Cubase, especially when there is NO difference.
The more I use Live the more convinced I am that it is pure myth that Cubase or other established DAWS sound better when using the same pan law and plugins. Most people who compare this and claim one is better than the other don't use the same pan law or use different plugins.
The main issue with Live's quality is mostly down to warping issues. Check how your warping is set up.
I think radib's last comment says it all - you need to stay clean to properly evaluate this, get on the smack or ice and your brain is fried.
Anyway radib, no one is going to convince you otherwise, so use whatever works for you but as someone who has run Cubase for more than 7 years, for producing electronica, rock and almost everything in between, my experience is NO DIFFERENCE.

check his myspace and the tune on it, this guy has skills, and one of these:adventurepants_ wrote:radib wrote:I hope they crack it, I wanna test it before buying.
Original poster credibility - now lower than zero.
his/her opinions on summing and panning: Priceless.

Damn, you beat me to the punch. I was going to tell everyone to check out the amazing tune he was able to produce on his incredible sounding system. He clearly has the cred to be posting DAW comparisons with songwriting, engineering, and production skills like that.Tone Deft wrote:check his myspace and the tune on it, this guy has skills, and one of these:adventurepants_ wrote:radib wrote:I hope they crack it, I wanna test it before buying.
