OT: Anybody excited for Reason v4?

Post by jb61264 » Mon Oct 01, 2007 4:03 am

I know some people hate Reason and I know some people love Reason...I like Reason (it's not love though)...and I'm really excited to get my copy of v4 on Tues or Wed.

Just wondering how many other Abletonians are diggin on the new v4 release

i used to swear by reason, but over the past couple months i've used it less and less.

I'll keep it around, for old projects' sake, and for a couple decent refills i have here, but I'll stick to vers. 3. Not really feeling very tempted to upgrade to 4.

I wasn't going to bother. The new sequencer is more fiddly, several of the new fonts are harder to read and with Live's rewire latency problem there were enough reasons not to upgrade.

But... I spent some quality time with the demo last week and I think I rather like it. But used on its own, not with Live. Thor makes up for the digitalness of some of the other synths, and indeed I could do a lot of stuff with Thor alone.

I still don't like the Fonts and the zoom function in the sequencer is totally bananas. But I may just get used to it. So I ordered it and it should be here in a matter of hours according to the UPS website.

Only time will tell whether I use it a lot.

I am definitely excited!! Particularly since Version 3, Reason has been a very powerful tool and I don't know why quite a few people here knock it so much. True, the sequencer is crap but that is about all as far as I can see. So what if it doesn't have audio recording capabilities. Use Rewire mode for that.

But there are quite a few hardline, one eyed and some may say fundamentalist Ableton users out there who think Live is the be all and end all. Shame about that.

Don't get me wrong. Live is a great tool and in combination with Reason it is a mind blowing duo.

I can't wait for my version of Reason 4 to arrive.

I hope they crack it, I wanna test it before buying. In V3 Redrum is great, also that one synth and the Mastering Suite. Far enough to make me happy.

I got the update the day after it was out at home. I played with the beta and liked it instantly. I cannot work just with one kind of software because somedays i feel like playing with Live 6 other days like Reason and again other days like Reaktor... I liked Reason from the beginning as well as Live. I seldom use software rewired i rather produce parts in different programs and finish it in Live 6, but everybody works different and if i would be a "real" musician i would probably have enough with Live 6 or with no software at all
