How long does it take you to launch Live 3?

.... because mine still takes forever. Double-click the icon, fix yourself a cup of coffee, and when you come back it is opening the default song soft of thing.

I thought this must have been fixed by now? I'm on a Powerbook 867mhz BTW, LIve 3.0.1

Also, all my Motu ins and outs show up as "Input/Output 7" in Live 3.0.1 OS9 .... hmmmm???

It takes me a while sometimes too (powerbook g4/667mhz/1gb ram/os 9-x). I think it depends on how many plugs are in your vst folder (?).

my powerbook g4 500mhz takes upto 2 minutes to load a set.
my 2400 mhz PC takes about 4 seconds

Live3 loads in ~12 seconds on my iBook running slow ass X. I guess it'd be faster in OS 9.

What is it doing during those two minutes? Live shows some info in the splash screen ("scanning VST directory", "initializing application", ...) that could give a hint.

About 5 seconds on an XP 2200+ based laptop here. A fairly hefty vstplugins folder as well. I've noticed it slows down a bit if some VST instruments are in the folder for some reason. I used to share the folder with other apps but now have a dedicated one for live but it's still pretty big.

Hi folks,

we know that some user have or had these long startup time issue under OS 9, which seems to be some kind of unspecific extension conflict.
We did some investigations on that issue already for Live 2.x and as result we found out that there was a system call (we have to use at starting time several times) that normally takes some few ms for execution but under some circumstances it needs about 10! seconds.

However, feel free to mail me the log file of Live (../Preferences/Ableton/Live 3.0.2/Log.txt") together with a short description ("long startup time").
The logfile contains time stamp in ms since application start so maybe we can see where the time is lost.

Hi folks,

Probably it's a problem with the Live's preferences file. So all of you having these long startup problem in Live 3.0.1/3.0.2, please do the following:

1) Rename the Live preferences file (".../Preferences/Ableton/Live 3.0.2/Live.cfg") into something like "Live_old.cfg".

2) start Live

3) If Live will start at "normal" speed this time, you have to make your desired preferences settings in Live again and can delete "Live_old.cfg"
