compress time idea is great
someone pointed me to this thread, as i just stumbled upon the idea myself and thought i was pretty out-there.
+1
it's a brilliant idea and i love the way the Poster put up a picture of how it could work. everyone in this thread seems totally stoked to get this feature one day. it seems like it would definitely fit in Live's structure.
thanks to all

not sure..ton wrote:Jumping over (all parallelly) deactivated clips automatically would result in the same (except of not being hidden).
if (for a time slot all clips are deactivated)
{
jump playback cursor from start of deactivation to end of deactivation
}
• what will happen when clips overlap the time range you want to deactivate?
I reckon the hidding of a range of clips will cut the overlapping clips in two..
when you deactivate overlapping clips, the part that is not within the selected range will also get deactivated..
• what will happen if you deactvate a range, but it was intended to be silent?
• large chunks of deactivated clips are still cluttering your screen..
• a chunk of deactivated clips can not be moved elsewhere that easily as just one 'hidden time locater', as I suggested in my mock-up..
• a chunk of deactivated clips can not be 'expanded' elsewhere as with the 'hidden time locater'..
and as I suggested;
this idea is not about hidding time alone..Poster wrote:what if you could drag the 'hidden time locater' into the browser,
Live would then save the compressed part as a new set with all associated files..
its also about easy handling of chunks while keeping your screen clutter free..
