everyone always takes small statements online and blows them out of propertion.

I mean something like this

person A
"I don't give change to people on the street"

person B
"so what you're saying is that there are people in the world that deserve to starve to death?"

Oops, my quotes around the "science" class were meant to denote sarcasm. Once again, the internet renders sarcasm dead.

Anyways, my point is that Solipsism, Last Thursdayism and the Brain in a Vat theory are all just as unprovable as Intelligent Design, and all just as probable / uncontestable.

So, rather than see an evolution vs intelligent design debate, if we were to take the arguement of the ID advocates to the logical conclusion, we should be teaching all sorts of philosophies. Where does it end? I bet I could dredge up 200 equally unprovable and uncontestable theories just as valid as Intelligent Design. Which ones make the cut? They're all equally valid / invalid.

welcome to philosophy!

no right or wrong, just a framework for individual perceptions of our world and how it works in relation to us.

im sure that if ID was given its own branch as a philosophy it would be "creationism" which would be a derivative of existentialism and sit along other branches of existentialism affiliated with religion.

this stuff is in a sense covered.. just a bit later in college/uni when the mind has grown a little bit more as opposed to being rammed down the throats of kids.

OK here is my personal debunking:

1. Peanut butter is a derivative of a living thing (peanut plant) and therefore irrelevant to the discussion since non-living matter + energy = life, not previously living matter + energy = life.
2. Peanut butter is full of preservatives (unless you eat the good stuff mmmmm).
3. Peanut butter is not primordial ooze, nor is it even remotely close to anything that could've produced life billions of years ago.
4. Peanut butter is a hell of a lot younger than the age of life on earth.
5. One billion experiment over 100 years is an infinitesimally small amount of reactions compared to the amount of reactions that have taken place since the forming of the earth four billion years ago.
