hiya
this is a live pa i recorded a year or so ago - i think i was using live 3 last may..its a combernation of full lenght sort of dj'd tracks and loop based improvised tracks (all homemade) whos structure i had to jam on the fly - works well i think and was fun to play
great thing with ableton tooo is i managed to record crowd sound through mic while i was playin - it was too distorted to use when beats were goin but its clear enough on breakdowns and stuff - just nice to add abit of atmosphere..

next time tho i'd be using some vst synths on top too - gonnna need a second monitor for that and another controller - god - it never ends!

anyway - hope ya like - would be interestin to hear some opinions on ma choonage/ set structure - as i have never dj'd and really i find it too frustrating!

I'm halfway through it... good shit!! The occasional crowd whistles and yells are a nice touch.

Maybe the only thing I'd say is that some of the breaks could be crisper, a little more oomph to them.

Burn that .als to CD and keep it on hand, that's a set you could spin over and over again.

Any tips or tricks you'd like to point out?

yeah i know what u mean about the breaks - in a few points they do get abit overkill - too many of them going on at once, none of the tracks are compressed - just a gentle pumping on the main channel which wasnt enough really

i'd love to play it again - the only problem with playin ya own stuff and not djin is u cant really play the same venue untill u've made somethin new - which could be even a year away - any gigs goin in san fran? lol

any tips? hmmmm dont overload ya cpu and have back ups of everythin, set up early, practice ya set a couple of times - remember superstength condoms for protection against rampagin groupies! (i wish)

anyway - glad ya like it so far - cheers for the feedback !

Freshly rendered, this is a beta version of this track. No vocals and shitty mixing so far:

honostly the most important mastering advice I ever recieved is that master compression is usually a bad thing. I used to compress the hell out of the master but it just made stuff sound muddy. only compress the tracks that need it and leave the rest alone. of course eq is good on everything. and a master limiter is a definate. but I haven't used a master compressor in a while. I'm sure others will have major disagreements with me on this hehe. the fact is most soft synths are gonna cut through a mix really well whether you compress them or not. they are very pure tones and they cut through.[/i]

oh yeah and the vst/vsti question. alot of operator and phatmatik pro. analog delay vst. a crap load of plugs really but those ones end up in everything I do.

thanks for the comments man.
