I'm wondering if there are still issues with the audiofire2 and the newest Macbook Pro laptops (2.4ghz Penryn, specifically)...
I'm basically looking at both the Audiofire2 and the Presonus Firebox, because I need to have that separate headphone out and I need at least a line/rca in for less than $300usd. It seems like I'm headed for issues no matter what I choose - usb version of what I need doesn't seem to exist, and other firewire devices are just too expensive for me at this point.
I'm sorry - I don't mean to hi-jack the thread ... perhaps I'll create another....
audiofire 2/4 + mbp user ? please read this
heh,
i guess i should have concluded this thread so i would not alarm new echo users
so...
currently,
with echo audio firmware 4.6 and osx 10.5.2
(or any other 10.5 from my experience)
i have none of the previously reported issues
im very sorry that my delay in clarifying that has caused any alarm to other users

Hi
I have recently set up my new MBP with the audiofire 2.
with echo audio firmware 4.8 and osx10.5.2
everything is fine untill about 30/40min sometimes longer where playback becomes distorted and crackles and popping sounds can be heard.
Is this the same problem as expressed before...?
What do i do to fix it...?
Do i need the SDK driver to fix this...?
Please help.

Are there still issues with the Echo Audiofire 2 interface and Macbook Pro.
I just bought a refurb Macbook Pro and I'm in the market for an inexpensive audio/midi interface. I just want to check in with you Echo users and see if the issues are sorted out and know whether or not I can buy with confidence.
Thanks
