Same as the bank in my first post, except that you keep the Transport controls to a bare minimum, and use 8 pads for Impulse

[Undo] [Up] [Redo] [Arm]
[Left] [Down] [Right] [Clip]
[*] [*] [*] [*]
[*] [*] [*] [*]

The [*] are Impulse Pads.
The [Arm] here should be set between C-1 and G-1, transmitting on MIDI channel 1, depending on which channel strip you're using (i.e. C-1 if your Impulse is on the first Track, G-1 if it's on the eight track).
This way, you can switch Arm on/off, say, when you're layering beats, and you also need to tryout an alternate combination before you layer another set on.
So you can go - Arm; bang,bang,bang; Un-Arm; bang,uh-oh,bang,bang; Arm; bang,bang,bang - see what I mean?
The [Undo] and [Redo] buttons here can be used if you want to delete the last layered set of beats, or you can go on hitting undo until the notes in the clip are blank.

[Note: You need to set up your blank clips in advance.] - the [Clip] button will not create a new clip for you - it can only trigger an existing clip.
this one is nice also : but how do you set up the impulse pads?? i dont quite understand that

The complete list is here:

Impulse maps to C3-C4. It's in the manual. If you want to have more than 8 pads, you can create a rack. Search the forum for this.

ah right, i did see that guide before , and thought it wasnt what i was after, but after closer inspection, it is ;)

yep i know impulse works from c3 - c4 , i thought maybe this was referring to a different way of controlling it (ie without having to arm it ), but i guess this is far more versatile anyway

thanks again = )

Yet another superb demo of pK with Live set up for MPC style drum rolls. Also includes a neat trick using Live's arp to do rolls.

some great vids there!

ok : now i cant seem to get access to the metronome, and the global quantize as the guy has - i checked the mackie control midi map list but those notes do not work...

also i noticed some differences between that list and what you've used in the initial post (eg according to that list the left and right curser is E7 and F7, not D7 and D#7)

???

Yes - there are a few mistakes in the original mhigrules document. I'd initially tried those, and found that some notes were mixed up. What's in my original post is correct, though.

Now that you've got the hang of it, You can also look at Machinate's original post for some additional functionalities.

As far as the vids are concerned, I don't think he's using MC emulation - he's probably mapped MIDI notes directly to the metronome and the global quantize in his Live set.

I got the padkontrol yesterday and have spent all day customising this with live. This thread has put the icing on the cake. Live and the padKontrol work brilliantly together... with a little customisation.

One Query

I want to use the x-y pad and buttons 1 & 2, the same as in Mike @ Trackteam audios post, but use this on another scene I have that has 2 c minor scales programmed.

I get the padKontrol working as per hi download and I have copied the same cc's across to my new scene. Any ideas how to get the x - y & rotaries 1 & 2 to control the 1st 4 parameters of a rack?

Worked this out last night.

I just needed to assign on of the pads or foot controller to send a CC message instead of a note.

This is an awesome piece of kit

Is there any way to select a rack to Automap using Mackie Control?

I think there is an Automap/Mackie Control hybrid template from Track Team Audio.
