Anyone notice THIS thing?

Looks nice. If they doubled the rows on this and put a 100 mm X fader on it, it would be usable.

My question is why the hell do companies like Maudio, behringer, Doepfer, Tascam, Mackie, not make a controller that is layed out the same as the leading dj mixers. picture a midi controller that is set up just like a ..........
This is just one example of a nice lay out for a mixer. I would also do allot for a midi controller that had a layout exactly like this
with light ring encoders. It pains me to think that these designs that have been refined for generations are instantly forgoten just because they are to interface a computer. Why did anyone ever get the idea that 8 faders with scroll curser buttons was as effective as 70 pots and 16 faders?! I dont care if there little windows telling me what the faders are doing. It is more than I can bare thinking about. Even digital mixers dont have enough pots. I just dont get it....
ok rant over realy anybody listening out there? build a midi mixer for crying out loud!!!!

It's for traktor really. It just happens that it might do an ok job in Live tooNixon wrote:They could so easily make this the stripper down version, and make another one which actually has the proper controls, and call THAT the pro
Did they ever use live in this kind of dj setup befor, i'm wondering...

Well mackie controll has one fader four buttons and one encoder per "channel" with a whopping 8 channels! you can add more if you like but then you have two units not one. An analog mixing desk with four sends and four busses has 10 pots a fader and at the very least four buttons to send things to the busses. Show me one controller that is not made by digidesign that has anything like this? why not? hell If behringer can make the BCR and BCF for $250 I would gladly pay 500-1500 for a proper mixing "midi desk" if it actualy felt good. I even refer to the mackie controll in my first post. Nice build quality but where is the access?tricil wrote:um, mackie control?
also theres an A&H that controls via midi.
well, not really. If you consider that the 3D is three things in one:kabuki wrote:tricil wrote:um, mackie control?

for WAY too much $$$$$
1) Soundcard
2) DJ audio mixer w/ analog filters
3) and a MIDI controller
add it up if you bought high quality components seperately. Its about right.

If someone can confirm that these are actually shipping yet, I'd appreciate it.
I ordered mine almost two weeks ago!!!

A&H Xone 3D: $2,800 USD
vs.
Good soundcard: $400
+
DJ Mixer (I don't use outboard FX): $600
+
Custom MIDI Controller: $1,000 ($250 for a stock one)
=
$2,000 and I am giving you the advantage of a custom controller and 4 channel mixer. I could give a CRAP about the in-mixer filters as I only want to use the software versions.
The A&H is still WAY too expensive.
This is about right:
