Treat the corners with bass traps made of rockwool. And make some mid and high end absorbers to line the walls with out of rockwool.
You can use burlap or heshen to cover the rockwool with and use your sensibility to make a presentable solution.

Just put your hands behind your ears (cupping them lightly)
Seriously! - I'm thinking of desiging some sort of hat or attachment to go on the back of a chair. No need to spend loads on treating your room to stop reflections, so long as you can stop the reflections from reaching your eardrums!
All you need then is a couple of bass traps.

Cheap and cheerful:
Go to your local building supplies place, and get some rockwool. 45kg/m3 is a good density. Buy some 1x2inch lengths of wood, for your frames.
Make your frame so that one rockwool panel (whole or cut to the size you need) fits in tight and snug inside. Wrap the whole thing in breathable fabric.
Works a treat in my studio!
It is also possible to build bass traps for your corners using higher density rockwool.

Re: room acoustics
I have recently done this, it is actually the industry standard insulation for your walls and is more effective than the auralex range - except the fibres make you itch.sweetjesus wrote:Rockwool is your friend.djfm wrote:just woundering if there is a cheap alternative to room acoustics? im not in a pro studo just a humble bedroom setup. The rockwool that you want is the "Flexi" range, it is reasonably cheap. Knauf Rocksilk is exactly the same also.
Use a blunt wood saw when cutting it.
cover your gear when using it.

that's one of the most bizarre bits of studio adivice I've read in a while!:lol::lol:
I've got this picture of you sitting there with this special hat with foam big ears and a couple of beer cans on top with a tube coming down into your mouth
and maybe something like "sex instructor, first lesson free" written on the front

Seriously though, try it. Hold your hands behind your ears like that - it really does improve the sound imo. Better stereo image, clearer high ends etc.
