Different sound quality on Win vs Mac (complex warp)

Post by blinkmuffel » Mon Aug 21, 2006 7:57 am

Hello,

we have a problem with the sound quality in complex warp mode.

If we play back a live set on a Mac (G4 Dual, Mac OS 10.2.8 ) everything is fine.

If we play back the same live set on a Windows machine (P4, Win2000) it sounds bad.
The CPU usage is lower than on the Mac, so this is not the problem, I think.
If we change the warp mode, it goes better.
Everything else is played back correctly on the Win machine.

Any ideas? Why sounds the complex mode bad on a Windows machine?

Thank you

Of course, samplerates are the same.

I tried it on different systems now.

Powerbook with built in audio - ok
G4 Dual with Digidesign 888 - ok
P4, Win2000 with built in or Delta1010 - not ok
IBM Thinkpad with built in or RME Multiface - not ok

It seems that there is a problem with playing back clips with complex warp mode in their original tempo. This problem seems to be Windows-only.

If the clips are played back in a different tempo, it's ok.

As a workaround I try different warp modes.
