Live 2.1b1 - The list of bugfixes

Post by Alex » Sun Jul 06, 2003 9:55 am

Hi folks,

For a general overview about the Live 2.1b1 see http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3868 and take a look at www.ableton.com/beta

If you found a bug or think one of the bugs we listed is not yet fixed,... please send all beta related feedback to beta@ableton.com.

When founding a bug please have the following things in mind as a small check list:
- Is it reproduceable
- If yes, what are the steps to "create" this bug
- Try to reduce as much dependencies as possible (does it happen just with e special song?, or just with a certain audio/midi hardware? or just on a certain computer?,...)
- When sending an email try to include as much informations about your system as possible.

Following a list of fixed bugs contained in Live 2.1b1

Subject: ReWire "loop" problem

Platform: All

Bug: Sometimes it was not possible to hear a note (in the ReWire slave) located at
loop start.

===============================================
Subject: Input Channel names

the output device and not to the input device.

Status: Fixed

===============================================
Subject: Physical stereo out volume change

Platform: All

physical stereo out, the level of the before selected stereo out was always set
to +6db (visible in the busview). very embarrassing and unfortunately my one :)

Subject: Render when ReWire slave

Platform: All

Bug: Rendering while Live was running as ReWire slave sometimes crashed the ReWire
master application.

Status: Fixed

===============================================
Subject: Clicks in audio after rendering a file

Platform: All

Bug: Under special circumstances after rendering a file there was a click in the audio out.

Status: Fixed

===============================================
Subject: Rendering a mono file distortion

Platform: All

Bug: Rendering a file as mono without the normalizing option could create
distortions in the rendered file.

Status: Fixed

===============================================
Subject: An unwarped clip that is played after a warped clip

Platform: All

Bug: An unwarped clip that was played after a warped clip was not pre-loaded so
that only the beginning of that clip was hearable.

right problems.

Still ~30% CPU usage when idle in OS X (800MHz G3). Looks like I'll have to stick to OS 9.

No problems untill now in windows 2000 / Athlon 1ghz /256 mb Ram ... have the impression Live 2.1.b1 starts also quicker up than 2.0.3 ... good thing .

Have started using the 2.1.b1 now with my dsp24mk2 audiocard with the Asio drivers which have problem in Ableton Live where after some time I get a the "clock source 0 doesn´t deliver an useable clock signal to the asio driver" --error . Wonder if this will be fixed as well [ allthough I don't know if this bug is from Live or the Asio driver ]

:?: :evil: S**t - there I have it again ... if just this could get fixed ... but by who ???

Not sure, but I don't think you can route audio to rewire slaves. rewire masters get to mix the rewire slaves' audio streams.

Synchronization via rewire doesn´t follow songpointerchanges

Post by betatester » Sat Jul 12, 2003 12:34 pm

checked an reproducable

platform : windows xp Host: cubase SX 1.061
platform : windows 98 Host: cubase vst 5.1R1

to reproduce:
turn on a metronomeclick
load a loop into ableton.
press start inside the host
change the songposition manually inside the host(e.g. press stop in the middle of the loop, rewind to the beginning and press start again)
to get Live out of sync.
---------------------------------------------------------
Another bug found:
Mute button of the channels can only be switched off via midi-note, won´t get switched on via midi-note.
---------------------------------------------------------
A strange behaviour:
play the identical loops inside cubase sx and live. at the orignal tempo(of course).
If they were in sync you should hear a constant phase-effect or if optimal
"in sync" just a louder loop.
But the phasing sound drifts(changes), so it´s a sign than syncing drifts, too.

Cubase sx and live 21b1

win2k
SX 1.061
live beta

I'm still having the same problem I had with 2.03 and rewire. when the beta starts up as rewire slave to cubase (I activated rewire inputs first) live says it detected problems with the rewire master and then live won't even play clips. I click them and nothing happens, no sound either. I was told that this was maybe a problem with cubase that would be fixed with an update...now there is an update to both programs but still nothing...what is it?
thanks

Hi tribalsound,

I don't have this problem here with Cubase SX.

Do you have started Live 2.1b1 at least once standalone ? This is needed so that it will install it's ReWire engine.

If you are already a Live 2 user, what happens with Live 2.0.3?
(Be sure to run Live 2.0.3 once standalone before).

hu_koala,
please see my posting in http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3961

Cubase sx and live 21b1/2.03, win2k

Post by tribalsound » Thu Jul 17, 2003 1:24 pm

I went back and made sure I started the live beta once and shut it down, then I started cubase sx and and opened a new project, I created one audio and one midi track and then I went to devices and under "ableton" I activated three sets of rewire channels (L&R, 3/4, 5/6) there is a bug with cubase that was not fixed in the last update where when I click on each set of stereo channels I.E. L&R, the names of the channels are changed so that they display incorrectly in this way: L&R-->L&L, 3/4-->3&3, 5/6-->5&5, etc...
after this I started the live beta again, when starting up (I see the live splash screen) I get the error: "Detected problems with the rewire master application, see manual etc..." I did everything in the manual but nothing helps, when live starts up I put a clip in the session window and click the clip button to start it...nothing happens...click again...nothing...like this forever....The exact same thing happens with live 2.03 what can I do to fix it? I really want to run them together!
Let me know what other info you need, I'll be glad to help in any way I can!
Thanks
