dragging parts or copy in arrange still appallingly slow

are you still having major problems here?
they did make a significant improvement to this in Live 6
have you written to support and specified your system because I have a strong feeling remaining problems regarding this are specific to certain processors or systems/video cards etc etc
I have all kinds fo slow downs when using lots of parts in Arrange view. It's not a huge delay, but definitely much more noticeable the more parts you have. MacBook Pro 2.16gHz Core 2 duo.

yes, it is really horrible to work with... moving the mouse...waiting seconds for the change of parts, envelopes... the problem is that i have changed my liveset from session view to arrangement. i have many cuts, really many... this may not be a problem for a daw.
recently i consolidated all, now it works. it's ok, but i have many other little sets that have that problem, thats so annoying... it's better in live6? ok, but ableton does not fix this within the last years.. thats so... its really... i have considered to change the app... but live has so many good things that i can't change... live is my app, thats fact but that sucks!!!! and every liveset uses less than 50 % CPU usage...
i use a dell latitude d800, centrino 1,8 GHz, 1GB RAM...
Damn I wish they could get the performance sorted out too.
If its just audiofiles in arrangement and we have good HDs I cannot see why it should be such a big deal (But obviously it is).
I seen Tarekith's post, a set he had with his beats all nicely cut up and sequenced in arrangement mode. But there were problems and the general advice was consolidate (imo a workaround not the answer) ... I guess this is the one area where live gets pwned by Cubase.

...and thanks for your statement about this problem...
Sorry for not popping up before in that thread, but as this is a quite complicated issue to investigate and solve, I have not an easy and quick answer to give. It is worked on, and we investigate on how to improve things. It has been dramatically improved since Live 5, but still is not perfect, if perfection lies in that digital world.
Thanks for your patience. For now it seems that consolidating clips wherever possible is a temporary solution.
Kind regards,
