Did any of you guys managed to change the ableton 5 automap configuration to jump-free control?
I have exactly the same problem and like you say it makes it pretty unusable, especially for live use! The pick-up seems to work perfectly well when putting your own standard templates together but not when auto-mapping. There was mention on another post about Novation saying that it was Abletons problem to get it sorted out. TBH I don't really care who it comes down to as long as they get it sorted asap.

I have contacted Novation so will post up any info/updates/excuses when they get back to me.

Yea I got a response back from Novation and they said that the Pick Up issue is Ableton's problem in the software.

So I hope Ableton's comes out with a new update for this fix before Live 6

Why in dog's name was everyone posting that this device was all top-modern if it's major selling point does not even do what it was supposed to do :?:

I really hope that I do not have this problem. I just learned about a dozen lessons.

Whoa, the very first chords on the dvd's intro are SO Live's classic tutorial. Watching the novation swimming around my monolithic NEC CRT is SO hot though, especially after banging my head around my last several controllers!

Alright, now back to work-

AHHHH! woohooo! the lights are so pretty! AHHHHHH!

Wow. That was an impressive video. Unfortunately it doesn't explain the features for ableton (in terms of automapping) and the site is not loading correctly.

It seems that the ableton automap is completely different than the cubase and the reason ones. I can't form an opinion though because while I can turn a device on and off, and all of the features light up like magic for operator, I can't seem to change any with my endless encoders!!!! :!:     :? :(

Works fresh out the box my...

If any one knows what I'm talking about or they have some advice, please holler.

Thanks.

That automate feature doen´t seem to work for me.
I updated L5 to the 5.2 Novation version, installed the Novation up to date software., set the SL as Midi controller and to automap mode.

Every time I load up a vst, the SL keeps teeling me "select a device to edit it".

Am I mssing something?

yeah, select a device to edit it.

Literally click on a device (like a Live plug in) and watch the left LCD screen, use the up/down arrows to see more menus.

@ Deadly Kungfu:

Somehow I get the feeling I didn´t make myself clear.

I set SL to automap.
I insert a vsti to a midichannel.
I open it like I do for editing it with my mouse.
Still the LCD says "Select a device".
No menues appear and I can´t select anything.
I´m a bit confused about that. :?

Maybe that vst isn't supported, try a built in plug in that came with Live. Can you control anything?

Another thing, don't click on the vst gui, click on its box in the lower left corner.

It is really strange.

Live mixer controls seem to work.

When I load up a vsti in automap (template 40) mode, nothing happens.

When I load up the bundled bassstation with the automap template, nothing happens. When I load up the bassstation with the suitable bassstation template it seems I can control anything just fine.
The imposcar template doen´t work at all. I just can control a few settings.
Cutoff e.g. and others won´t work, though it is assigned and shown in the display.

I´m quite desperate cause I can´t imagine what´s wrong.
