wasnt that where the last one was - in fact I have a feeling that might be what they have all been - i suspect so you have room to record your own arrangement without wiping the original - and 301 is probably due to the time at the bottom (without checking)

re: MBM Remix Project

Post by gsbe » Tue Apr 11, 2006 8:10 pm

I'm so happy that people are enjoying this remix project. I created the project for Jack. I've setup a number of Ableton sessions that MBM use in their live shows. This remix project was more fun to create (and more work ) because it included the lesson files. I hope that it helps Ableton novices better understand how powerful the software is and develop new methods that they may not have thought of to get in sync with the program.

The displacement of the beat is complicated and makes triggering / reproducing the session difficult. This is an important theme in Jack's music as long-time fans will attest. I did everything I could to make this easier from Scene naming to the entire page devoted to "finding the one" in the lesson.

Let me know if you have any questions about how the remix was created or how to use it. Hopefully you'll have fun with it, too!

Cheers-

Graham,
Thanks for all your work on this. I'm new to Live and this was a great introduction for me. I had a blast and learned a lot about using the application. Jack has been one of my favorite artists for 15+ years!! This could not have been much more fun and educational for me.

Thank you again!!

hey was there a verdict on emailing a link rather than the whole file?

I use Yahoo email and it hates big files - it just crashes and doesnt do anything when I try and upload so I have to upload to a server and mail the link

Is it over? Who won?

Can someone find a place to host all the remixes so we can hear all the different versions?

here's my friend's version of the track. he couldn't meet the file size requirements so it was left out from the competition. I persuaded him to let me share it:

Cool RMX even though it repeats certain parts alittle too much, it grooves and has nice crunchy drums I love that shit. NIce build up alot better than mine I wil post up soon I guess.

A good Deep House RMX of Wild with a touch of DUB. Very cool

I did mine so long ago I can't even remember what it sounds like.

short, with a funky end bit I think.

MBM Wild - Angstrom remix

BTW: a tip, just drag that link onto your mp3 player and it will stream - so you dont have to download it. :)

well I never got a reply saying that they even got it - I had to use Yahoo to get it there in time and it just wouldnt let me upload it so i had to mail a URL for download - still dont know if this was okay

we can only all hope no news is good news....

Angstrom - great mix BTW!

made me think mine was too full on and over the top

is it okay to post them? I wasnt going to until we'd heard something back as they were saying the winner would be a release on their web site.....

thanks for the comment.
:D

I posted my mix mainly because I have no idea whether it actually got to MBM, so I thought someone should hear it !

I'm doing the Bush of Ghosts one at the moment, damn that ones tough, the timing is all over the place. They are fun to do though, I always find working on remixes inspires me to try new stuff in my own music.

I filed my taxes about the same time this contest closed.

I hope that the IRS is not faster processing my submission than Thirsty Ear is!!

I'm gonna wait till the smoke clears to post mine. Trying to play by the rules,

But I'm enjoying hearing the other interpretations. Nice job guys!

Hope this wraps up soon. I want to hear the others' mixes!
