Hi,
I understand the principle of how it work but I still can't get the midi indicator out light in ableton to flash. Does it work with live 4 ? Can this be used with simpler ?

Pharoah, could you describe what happens with your current setup?
Two more things to try:
Double your input signal in Bome translator (input:controller output: midi yoke 1 AND thru). Your midi automation track'input is midi yoke 1, the output midi yoke 2.
Thought of that: Midi tracks don't accept control values above 99. Check if your CC value is lower than that.
Hang on! you are probably a few hours away of recording clip automation

you don't need midi translator for this, midi yoke does all you need on pc.
have a look at this image:

and see if it helps.
i haven't got any controllers on me, so i made a dummy one out of track one - in real life you'd have the input of track two set as coming from your controller, and there would be no track one in my example. to record the midi input from your controller you would record into track two and then trigger the clip and let it loop in auto input mode. you should be able to still use all your controllers (including any you're playing back out of a recorded clip) if you use auto mode even when you're playing clips.
in this example the input is assigned to the master volume fader using CC19 with a saw envelope. remember you have 16 midi channels with 16 midi yokes, meaning up to 256 possible control destinations for every knob you have on your controller. if you map things right you can use the midi routing in live to control a boatload of stuff with one knob, and mute the input tracks on and off as you go to change it's function.
hope this makes sense, it's a pretty handy trick for automating stuff live, and generally works really well
