TIP: Vel. switching and c/f in impulse and simpler

Post by Operator A » Tue Oct 04, 2005 1:57 pm

Hello good people! Time to play around with the built-in instruments some more!

HERE are two demos of using velocity switching and crossfades in Live, on Impulse and Simpler respectively.

The first example uses a bassdrum, three snare sounds and four hihats, triggered from notes C,D and G. As the velocity increases, the snare goes from snare1, to snare2 to snare 2+3, and the hihat G cycle through the four samples with increasing velocity.

The second example crossfades automatically between two simpler patches. depending on velocity, for quite complex sounds.

Have fun!

-And don't worry, we *are* working on new stuff...

Hey operator, nice work.

I understand the concept, and it works just like you say, but could you explain better the velocity midi effect's workings? There's many parameters in there...

The Covert Operators are working on new stuff now, and since racks within Live 6 pretty much do all the stuff this patch does, but easier, I won't go into too much detail.

All I can do at this point is to refer to the manual. Explaining velocity scaling is nothing, if not tricky. Live 6 makes it all quite a bit easier, for sure.
