MIDI BUG causing latency
i tried this, but had no luck... still seemed like it was off. with the click track as reference it seemed to work ok, but when i turned off the click and used the drum track (which had fx on it that caused it to be affected by PDC) it didn't line up properly...
and while my playing may not be perfect, i took the same drums, rewired them into DP today and then put the same UAD fx back on them in DP and had no problems playing along with them there. Am I missing something?
PS - after I did that, i started playing around with DP's groove quantize features which are pretty damn good. Abe's.. while you're at it, how 'bout showing us some love on that front too!

I'm sure it does. This monitor setting stuff really needs to be sorted out. I think the midi input delay bug is affecting other things like this as well.henry ford wrote:i wonder if its got anything to do with this bug...

No, fix it in the next update, please. I can't wait that long for the next version.
I've been doing the workaround by using 2 tracks. Without using quantize, it's the ONLY way to have the midi recording play back along the timeline the way you played it originally.
Still hoping for a quick & small update. Just fixing this one bug will make me very happy and content. This is not convenient.

Arrgh.
When I record 2 tracks now, one on monitor : Auto, which has everything late, the other track (on monitor : OFF ) has everything too early ...
Until now I wasn't really using plugins that need a lot of latency compensation , but I notice that the midi recording gets worse the more the delay is compensated, and no work around this time... or is there ?

I thought midi is noticeabley a little early in the OFF position too, but I thought maybe it was just me or my playing. I haven't done any tests yet though...re-recording quantized midi notes.
In any case doing the workaround is much better than not doing the workaround. It's only a little bit early if at all...without the workaround it's A LOT late!
It takes alot of time to be testing this stuff all the time when I could be making music. I think I'm going to sit tight for 5.0.3 and and keep doing the second track record with monitor OFF workaround. I assume they've got to know all the details of the bug by now. Once this is fixed it will be a breath of fresh air.

Ah I see...that's no good. The plugs I'm using are relatively low latency at the moment. Must be why it's only a small amount for me.
That explains everything now. Now that you said that, it's become alot clearer to me what's going on.
When I start with a fresh set with no effects plugins (using only virtual instruments) and do the workaround the midi timing of the recorded clips seem dead on. As my set progresses and I start to add plugins as inserts and in the sends, the timing of newly recorded clips seems to get earlier.
I guess we need to modify the workaround. Record clips onto a second track with monitoring OFF and with Delay Compensation set to off. Then turn Delay compensation back on and drag the clips into the instrument track to play it back.
Does that work for you?
