show more than one automation at a time in arrange window
yes. superb idea - this'd save me a hell of a lot of time switching through different parameters. i like the colour coding thing as well - at the moment, if automation exists for a parameter, it shows up as red in the drop-down box. this could easily be expanded to different colours for different parameters...

– that holds 5 envelopes (more is somewhat unnecessary)..
– all 5 envelopes have different colors..
– the envelope you click comes to front, the others dim (colorwise)..
– the envelope you click shows a contextual explanation which parameter it controls..
in another topic it's allready been said why this is not so good idea afterall.
why all this grouping and jibba-jabba? It's allready done in all top notch production softwares like logic or cubase or whatnot.
Why start to invent wheel if it has been allready invented for gods sake ?
yeah, that was my thread..bot wrote:Poster wrote:– 1 envelope lane (saves alot of space)..

well, instead of burning other ppl's ideas, why don't you come with some good ideas then?
This is not about reinventing the wheel, this is just a suggestion about how to implement multiple envelope views, the Ableton way..
So the grouping of say 6 envelopes in 1 lane could be vey usefull imo because;
- it is unlikely that you use more than 6 envelopes for one device;
- 6 separate envelope lanes use alot more space than 1

hey, I'm the doomsayer on that thread and I forgot to point out there that it would probably work as long as a different method for selecting the envelope to become active was found .. IE shift click on an env to bring it to the front?
Or perhaps a set of six coloured boxes next to the lane that correspond with each envelope colour, un selected envelopes colour would go to 50% transparent rather than grey out.
I'm wondering how we would pick a parameter to be displayed as an env, it seems we require 6 pulldowns next to the track lane ... this starts to look a little crowded. Actually the cubase system is less crowded than that, they add a new pulldown (beneath) after you make use of an env. This dynamic add wouldn't work for this Live env solution though because where cubase adds the new pulldown next to a new lane - Live would have to add the new pulldown in the same lane, meaning space would have to be kept free all the time.
perhaps someone has a better idea to select 6 envelopes for the 'multilane' without GUI clutter.
Here's my halfbaked idea: using the actual control to be animated .. EG: right click on "delay feedback" dial to add it to multi-view automation envelope lane, right click menu alows you to choose colour.
yes yes. Lets invent the wheel again.
Why not just put an arrow below the pulldown menu (instead of that stupid "clear envelope" button which should be just not where it is now, annoying as it is) to create a new empty track with new pulldown menu and then select the desired automation from there? (the space in the "mixer drop area" is going to be empty anyway). And offcourse there should be hide-show toggle individually for the tracks.
And what IF I JUST MIGHT want to create more than 6 automations (with this "6-automations-grouped-together-theme")?? Then what? I for instance like to tweak the shit out of synths and effects and also automate all this, so 6 envelopes is usually the least I use (not for EVERY track, but...).
sorry for the kind words but the situation as it is right now really pisses me off.

new feature in 6 !!!
finally..
Are you trying to say that there is multiple automation lanes in L6?
I've not heard anything about that before, and I'm sure one of the Alphas would have mentioned it.
ooops..
I guess me was a bit tired when reading this..
I thought it 'showed' all envelopes, but it just discriminates non-edited ones..
sorry..

And the clip envelope window drop down selector can be set to only show the edited envelopes, so no more scrolling through tons of pages to find your last tweak.
