ATTN Abes: Bad Skin Colors

Post by MrYellow » Sun Aug 14, 2005 11:10 am

I'm using Midnight..... I like the dark colors but found it hard to use on
dense waveforms as the progress marker on clips is the exact same color
as the wave, black.

Looking around I noticed the majority of skins have this problem. The only
ones that don't are the overly light ones such as Cardboard which change
the waveform color thus the black marker is visible.

Can I get a custom one with Midnight with a light waveform color?

Can you release a util to customise skins?

Can anything be done? As it stands most of the skins come up flawed.

Cardboard, Dawn, and Fudge seem to be the only skins that really avoid
this problem.... and only cause they look.... well they are girly or too bright.

I second this. Or, at a very minimum, would it be possible to release the file format of the binary .ask files? I would love to write a quick app myself to do this, but I don't have the time (or motivation) to reverse-engineer them.

Developping a skin editor which looks and feels like everything else in Live is additional work.
Give us a shit ugly, half working, buggy, crap skin editor..... ANYTHING!

It's just wrong that only 3 skins out of all those have a visible clip play position marker.

Yeah, anything.

I'd love to have a go at a colour scheme, i don't care if the skinning app looks like the software equivalent of lego.

Either that or some downloadables every once in a while.

Cardboard or bust

And even cardboard gets boring. Can't take the too bright (frost!?) or too dark.

yea no really. what the f. we are artists. this makes me really pissed to be quite honest. this is a question of feng shui to some degree, I mean at least give us laser in red orange yellow (we have green) light blue, dark blue, and purple. at the VERY LEAST. I mean even winblows allows you to change window colors. everything about live 5 makes it the shit except the really crappy all grey skin selection, but that's really not a minor aspect of the creative process at all. when you are sitting down jamming what you're looking at, the frequency of color, definatly sets the mood, obviously we know this cause why would there be any skins at all. all we want is a stupid little windows program that secretly compiles the secret proprietary skin coding for us but that allows us to choose some colors, even if it's ugly, even if we have to use a table on the internet to see what each peice is labeled, like with no picture or any kind of interactive click here and change the color of this part features. what are you guys lazy or sadistic? we ALL want this shit. give it to us.

Let us know what's each bit in the binary controls and I'll write it myself.

Getting pretty sick of this.
