"this parameter no longer exists in the plugin"

Post by Dhji » Wed May 08, 2024 10:49 pm

Hi there,

I opened an old project which has MIDI automations that belongs to a plugin that no longer exists (I have a newer version). I remember in the previous Ableton versions I could just copy the automation to another plugin parameter, but when I go to select it I get a deny symbol and in the lower left info panel: "this parameter no longer exists in the plugin". I can do it in Ableton 11, but not in 12.

Here is what it looks like: https://imgur.com/a/SkdYLm5

And here what it looks like in 10 (as you can see the automation is red and still able to be copied): https://imgur.com/a/Hz3JrTj

Does anyone know the way around this?

Thanks
D

Found a way around it. Copy and paste the plugin onto a MIDI track, and don't create a MIDI clip in arrangement mode and it will appear. Highlight it by selecting a track above it that you CAN highlight and then once it's highlighted; move your arrow up/down to the empty MIDI track you just created and press Command+C and then go back up/down to the track you want to PASTE the automation and voila. (Note that there will be 2 times you have to press up/down; one for selecting the whole track, and the other just the automation data. Enjoy.
