Push 3 Standalone - where does it play audio files from? RAM or the SSD?
Push 3 Standalone - where does it play audio files from? RAM or the SSD?
I'm trying to work out the maximum capacity for audio files on the Push 3 in standalone mode.
I'm presuming it's either limited by the 8GB of RAM or the 256GB SSD (if it streams direct from it), but can't find any info online...
I know about the max single audio file size of 2GB in Live, which I presume will be the same on the P3, but does anyone know what the overall audio file capacity is for standalone?

The maximum number of files you can store on Push is dependent on the SSD, not the RAM.

I don think that’s what the OP is asking, so I have no idea for your question. There’s no option on the standalone version to load files into RAM so I can only assume that’s what is happening.
Are you running into issues with this ?

It was what the OP was asking, looked like a simple question to me.
I know it's not a option. And no, I have no issues. I'm just curious.
On Elektronauts the TS asks the same question : 'Does Push 3 Standalone stream long audio files from the 256gb SSD drive or from the 8gb RAM?'
So the question is : does the Push 3 Standalone loads a sample in RAM or is the sample streamed from disk(SSD)?

Yes, this is what I was asking (thanks).Just_Pierre wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 4:43 pmI know it's not a option. And no, I have no issues. I'm just curious.

I'm asking because I want to load a bunch of full tracks per scene.
Before I go down that route, I'm trying to confirm that I can go past 8GB and create myself a 'live master set' that will exceed 8GB eventually.
You guys are saying the audio is streamed direct from the SSD? (I'm presuming that's why you'd have/use an SSD, right?)

Because @Tarekith didn't understand your question, I would no rely on his first reply. My (personal) guess is that a sample is loaded into RAM, but I hope I'm wrong.CCMP wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 4:52 pmYes, this is what I was asking (thanks).Just_Pierre wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 4:43 pmI know it's not a option. I don't know the official answer to this, but if we look at how Live handles thing:
- audio files can be streamed from RAM if you enable this option at the Clip level
- same for Sampler, this is optionnal
- audio files can be streamed from RAM if you enable this option at the Clip level
- same for Sampler, this is optionnal

You say : 'audio files can be streamed from RAM if you enable this option at the Clip level'. Does this mean that if you do not use this option, the sample is directly streamed from disk(SSD)?
Here's what Ableton help says :
https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... k-Overload
So I assume that the Push 3 Standalone does the same?

Sorry for not understanding the question initially.
No one here is gonna to be able answer this question, as there is no documentation on it either way when it comes to the standalone version of Push. You will likely need to contact support to see if they can provide an answer.

Both you and @jur haven't any contact with the developers(maybe Cenk)?Tarekith wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 5:49 pmSorry for not understanding the question initially.

I can not open a ticket with this question at Ableton Support because it asks me the Push 3 log file and a video of the problem. Without these 2 files it will not send my ticket.
It's just a simple question, looks like you and @jur can asks support to answer it.

Isn't it just a Windows thing? "Was" actually? Back to 32bit days?

Re: Push 3 Standalone - where does it play audio files from? RAM or the SSD?
@CCMP is talking about the Push 3 Standalone, and that's a Linux based OS. That OS doesn't have a 2GB limitation as far as I know. So I don't understand what @CCMP means with the 2GB limitation in Live while his question is about the Push 3 Standalone.
And yes, back in the 'Windows 32-bit' days it was a limit.
