I voted, but the Ableton forums are unfortunately not a democracy...
BTW, why would I go to Usenet for discussions?!
I thought that's where all the warez are?!

Before the web browser was invented I spent many an hour at rec.music.synthTomViolenz wrote:BTW, why would I go to Usenet for discussions?!

personally, i think banning certain subject matter reeks of certain deeds and actions carried out by certain organizations... both types of which are not allowed to be spoken of due to the ban.
how mutherfukin convenient.

Re: Do you support the ban on political / religious discussions?
I read it differently. I think it just speaks of a failure of imagination
It is a little odd. For about the last year or so (I am too little to remember much before then) they seemed to be completely lax and laissez faire, and they let folk like Myr and Funken carry on in a way that created bad vibes. Now they have gone on to the opposite extreme. Not only have they banned some who deserved to be banned, but they have implemented a ridiculous rule.
Which, I may note, is just going to make their job harder. Instead of letting the Lounge run, Bableton_David and co are now going to have to apply their minds to whether or not threads are political or religious or not.
Now if this was a forum for, I don't know, exchanging macrame patterns or breeding roses, this could work. But it's not well suited to a forum dedicated to a form of culture which has always had its political dimensions... and which will attract a fair share of creatives, artists, cognitive dissidents and other kinds of prickly or contrary folk. Particularly not if you are going to decide to have a 'Lounge'...
So. They have created for themselves a world of pain: either they take a liberal approach, in which case more and more verboten discussions slip in under the radar... or they have to go all Robocop/Judge Dredd on us and shut down even the merest whiff of politics, and cause even more anger that way.
Neither of these courses of action is going to make moderating any easier.

When I read between the lines of Stans post, where he wrote "The Lounge was an experiment that we ran" I conclude, that they actually regret that they did so, and that they don't mind at all if the Lounge dries out, shrivles and slowly dies...The Finn wrote:I read it differently. The lounge is dead, long live the NebuLounge!

Just want to make you all aware before the Lounge gets locked or deleted.
