What is the Swing knob for on Push?
I get you use it when you're repeating notes. But other than that? Seems like a waste of space if it doesn't affect the swing of clips and recorded notes.
I think I'm missing something?

the "Swing" knob only affects clips and recorded notes if you hit "Quantize" afterwards.
Have fun.

I guess we should be thankful that you don't have to browse the 'groove pool' on push
I think we should ask for the Push approach to swing to be expanded to all of Live.

Curious. I've tried that with recording synth parts, no swing. It also affects the whole clip?Fugazi81 wrote:Hi,djadonis206 wrote:I think I'm missing something?

adjust swing, press record and play! the swing amount will be recorded as midi directly to the selected sample. i never tried it to quantize afterwards but maybe today.

Yes it affects the whole "selected" clip, everything that is "quantizable" (warp markers, notes)
Check the Quantize options on Push
hold down the "Quantize" button, there you have all quantize options, play with it until you get the results you like.
Ps:
I use the "set-swing-and-quantize" combi exclusive, because i didn´t even know you could use quantize while your are recording
Thanks for the tip!

I really wish we COULD acces the groove pool from push, I use it extensively. It'd be pretty useful to have both, or even just the option to set a default groove template from the pool. The Finn wrote:I guess we should be thankful that you don't have to browse the 'groove pool' on push

I've been finding myself nudging notes and beats ahead or behind time quite a bit and it would be nice to be able to save that as a template AND be able to apply it to other clips from Push.
It's nice to have the swing setting residing in the Push hardware, but I'd like to still get at the groove engine in the software once clips have been recorded.

And for Live too. Default groove template for all new clips

Re: What is the Swing knob for on Push?
Call me slow but I'm not hearing it.
Quantize enabled
Swing set to 60%
1/16 Quantize to
100% quantize notes
1/16 record quantize [on]
I play notes in, don't see any swing or hear it
However, when I use the repeat function it records the swing and I can hear it and see it.
Curious what's going on here

Re: What is the Swing knob for on Push?
I even extract groove to see if the notes are shifted and it's straight quantized to the 16th
Re: What is the Swing knob for on Push?
Hi, i just tried your settings and *dada* they are workingdjadonis206 wrote: Quantize enabled

Ok, you have set your quantize options *hold* "Quantize". To quantize your clip/notes with your settings you have to *push* "Quantize" afterwards.
*hold Quantize* = enter Quantize menu
*push Quantize* = quantize your clip/notes (Push shows you the message "Quantized to : 1/16, 100%" on the display)
That´s how i quantized my clip with your settings.
Maybe you have to check your "Quantize-Preferences (cntr +shift +u). Even though i set my options with the push hardware the setting in my Quantize-Preferences differs from them. (e. my Push settings = 1/16 - Quantize Preferences = 1/32)
I hope this helps...

Thanks
So what you're saying is, play the notes in and then just press the quantized button. The whole, or just the played notes will be swung?

Re: What is the Swing knob for on Push?
Okay, you helped me figure it out!!!
I was thinking swing was applied in real time, but it's applied after the fact
Fugazi, thanks again

Re: What is the Swing knob for on Push?
You´re welcome. Glad it worked.
You could also *hold* the "Quantize" and while you are doing, push a pad
(it seems it´s only working in drumrack mode) to quantize just one note lane at a time (e. only the hi - hats etc.) .
Have fun!
