it sounds like you have more gear than you know what to do with and that's not a good thing. it's best to buy ONE piece of gear or software and learn how to use it inside and out to its full potential and then take it beyond that potential and then things really start to get good. if you have a ton of gear that you don't know how to use, you're going to be spending time trying to figure out gear, not making music. some of the best music was made with just a sampler with 4 seconds of memory! or just a 4 track recorder! or just a mic and a reel to reel machine. honestly, it sounds like you have too much gear. i think you should focus on what piece of gear you think suits you best and put the rest of it aside because too much gear is not a good thing. think about it in terms of cooking: when you start to learn how to cook, you do basic things like boil water, learn to do eggs, learn how to make simple meals with simple ingredients for just one person. if you took someone who had never cooked before and gave them a huge cookbook and 100 ingredients and all the best kitchen gadgets and said "cook a 5 course meal for 10 people on your own for tonight" they're gonna freak because they never started at the basic level to just cook easy meals for ONE person. so take it back to basics and start from there--you've gotta crawl before you walk, walk before you jog, jog before you run, run a lot before you break running records. andrew
