I'm very excited about the new Operator synth but...........

Just for comparisons sake, you can buy Logic pro 7 for £599 including all instruments and effects that Emagic have made (9 synthesisers, 70 plug in effects, 3 vintage keyboard instruments and a very good sampler)

When you compare that to buying Live at £349 and operator at around £100 (combined price £449) and consider that with this combination, you have only 17 audio effects, 5 midi effects, 1 sampler, 1 synth and 1 drum machine, the price of the Ableton products seems very high.

As I say, I'm sure I'm gonna love operator, but I think that the price is slightly high for what is basically an add-on to an existing package.

yep.

i tremendous have faith in their design and implementation abilities.

and ultimately i don't think i need another synth. especially not for $149 and especially not when there's a ton of things i happily WOULD pay ableton $149 for.

that said, i'll wait and see. maybe this synth will change my mind on all that. it's just hard to imagine.

shame this big build up was for this.
I already have fm7, and I really like the way it combines with my drehbank. By looks FM7 is more powerful than this.

I also bought Adobe Creative Suite PREMIUM for $199 - That includes Photoshop CS, Illustrator, Acobat Pro and more. Also no Tech Support

BUT full access to Forums, Knowledge Base etc etc And all rights to updates, downloads etc etc

A good deal I think.

Check it out dudes, and then ask yourself is Operator going to be worth $149?

You bought either an unauthorized bootleg copy or the educational version if you paid $199.. It is illegal to sell the premium creative suite for under $899.. It is also illegal to use educational software for commercial purposes.. they will catch you eventually if you use it for anything... For instance, if you ever try to print a pdf at a Kinkos it will identify the serial number as educational use only and Adobe will be contacted, i knew someone who worked there.. Whenever a photoshop or pdf file came through it was screened and marked as a commercial or educational style of document. If it was obviously non-educational related they contacted the fraud dept at Adobe..

Im reporting that website right now to Adobe's fraud department..

And while we are waiting, wouldn't a speach synthesis engine have been more fun?

I'm not impressed. I don't need to hear it to come to that conclusion. I have...

Komplete 2
Zebra
Pluggo 3
Filterscape AU
Buzzer 2
Logic 7
Reason 2.5

The last thing I need is any more synths, FX etc.

What I need is for Live 4 to get the piggishness out of their audio engine, Altivec, dual CPU support, whatever it takes, basically as it stands, Live 4 is the biggest pig on my system, and I sincerely doubt that Operator is any more CPU efficient than Simpler, which I find to be a bit of a pig, in line with Kontact, but not as powerful, but let's not forget that for most people lack of feature translates to ease of use.

You mean something innovative?

I'm thinking that it's going to restrict development of a lot of future instruments and effects if they always have to fit into the FX bar at the bottom of the screen. I can't imagine a full spec sampler to fit in there somehow.
