Wow.. Great thoughts conny. Then may I purpose.

We are all vibrating strings experiencing ourselves subjectively?

Nice, we have come up with the final definition: Humans are vibrating strings listening to themselves...

As an tribute to that, I will now blush and upload some vibrations for anyones ulcer to improve:

Of Course!

But only in the same way it is onion skins, almond shells, sand grains, sub atomic particles, beer, donuts, seminal fluid, 42 - it's all a big bloody infinite fractal if you ask me!

So then music is just one of the many facets of perception, and to each of us the universe is purely a matter of our own perception - what we perceive is our universe - it cant be anything else other wise each of us having our own perception and sentience would be impossible as the human experience of life would be identical for all of us - if the universe is one thing to all we would surely all perceive it the same.

I think it's one of the bridges between the physycal and metaphysical - or in other words the Universe we think we know and that which is beyond our everyday perception.

Music is not physically tangible - it is the combining of sounds and manipulated vibrations in a coherent rhythmic and melodic way which has an effect on our moods and imaginations and help us visualise and experience things which go beyond everyday life.

dont forget metaphorical.

alot of bits in music that join to create a metaphor; danger, love, dignity, jealousy, unrequitted love...these metaphors become a cohesive singularity...a single "thought" [what makes a blues lick, bluesy? is it the chords, or the intent?] which when combined with other thoughts, create syntax, structure, and meaning. manipulation of these "sentences" to create narrative, influences people more than they realize on a concious level. you can, using say, cultural metaphors, speak to people directly [charlie parker, for instance, would play "if i only had a brain" to someone he may be trying to have a go at, or a recognizable lick from a romatic song to a pretty lady in the audience.]

music has and always will "be". once energy, percived aurally, reacts with any other energy, perceptible patterns will emerge which we will say is musical.

Oh guys, I was going to bed...
I do agree with you. The reason I dont take the mystery tour on music is, maybe, because I can perceive it but hardly produce it. I am, frankly, jealous of musicians. (Onyx, I heard some snips of your work on your site and found good exemples of what you are talking about, lowering my head in respect.)
But apart from feeling sad about myself... art is everywhere, where the eye or ear or sensibility is, I guess. So, making music may as well be a kind of exporting your sensibility for more than music itself. Thats a great thing.

Sleep tight and/or enjoy a day of the richness of being here.

you're already well on the way there conny - you just have to remember it takes 10 years to learn to play your instrument - and then 10 years to learn to PLAY your instrument!! keep at it and one day your soul will speak through your music!

Just found.

"So music is a universal language, but what are we saying to each other?"

Thats a tough question. Being universal etc does not denote "good" by itself.
(OK, the thread is sleeping, I am just fiddling with the dust.)

We Hindus believe that the seed syllable of the universe is OM and that all things per-mutate from that one 'I am' vibration. The basis of all reality is that conscious 'OM'. We're not dumb matter, but the children of that primal Reality.

Well, some of us Hindus believe that. Some believe something quite different.

Yea, that's the thing. If music is OM, what does it say?
Or, maybe closer to you view, when music is IT, does it reveberate of "OM"?
I don't know. It knows?
I would say: yes. But what does that mean?
(It is 4.30 here in Sweden, so I might be a little unfocused.)
Thanks for your thoughts. Happy new.
