i'm looking to buy a vinyl record press :o

Post by knotkranky » Fri Nov 20, 2009 4:59 am

Other than the obvious spots that are great. I've decided to post here by the slim chance something may come of it.

Any of you cool blokes know any other cool blokes that can point me to any bloke looking to sell their press/s.

I'm interested in most professional models that run in most factories and not the hobby one-off machines.

10% on the purchase price is yours If I buy. A manual press is around $4k in good condition or 4 times that for auto.

That said, manual machines or any for that matter needing a little work is the pref.

Cheers! :D

Thanx mate.

Yeah, i'm dead serious. Me and my biz partner will be a record label in the most vinyl of ways.

Super special rates for my forum comrades :)

Me too! Whenever I've looked into it its just so costly.

I'd love to offer free downloads with the option to buy a vinyl version.

Another forum you might want to post this on is undergroundhouse.net in the "In The Studio" section.

That's a neat idea, but if the music isn't mixed for vinyl then it won't work out too well.

More power to you, Knot! It seems like if you pick your music carefully, and create deals with independent artists (who have fans that want vinyl) and small labels (that have artists that want vinyl), that you could actually make a decent little business with one of those presses. But, if you make a bunch of records that no one wants to buy, then you're in trouble.

Is this a labor of love, a quest to turn a profit, or a combination of the two?

Try searching for pressing plants, 50%+ have gone out of business in the last 5 years. You may be able to buy a press at a foreclosure hearing. That would be my first way to start.
