Anybody tried using 2 Launchpads together yet?

Post by nate_D » Mon Nov 09, 2009 3:18 am

Having a dedicated session view and then whatever (user 1 or 2, mixer) could open even more possibilities for what you can do in a live situation. Anybody else doing this yet?

Hey nate_D

I've tried to connect two and three Launchpads. Works just fine, and indeed having
- 1 Launchpad in Session mode
- 1 Launchpad in Mixer mode
- 1 Launchpad in User 1 mode, mapped to a lot of effects

is A LOT of fun

I have a question about this before i get another

Can you "link" the launchpads, as in if i move scenes on the clip mode on 1 can you get it so the mixer channel on the other moves along as well. So they they act as 1 if you see what i mean?

Can both be in user1 modes and not conflict w/ each other? Ie, if I program one to do a certain thing in user1 mode, can I program the same button on the other launchpad to do a different thing?

i haven't, but i noticed using my launchpad with my (powered) belkin usb hub made it VERY sluggish, even with nothing else plugged in! so if you need a usb hub to connect them, perhaps do some research into what is a good hub..

does it just use different midi channels to separate them?

no, each one shows up as a different device with its own channels.

still any answer to that question??

I'm interested myself, we just ordered a 2nd launchpad for our live setup, but we'd like to have BOTH for clip launching operation,

I browsed a lot on the web without finding any clue...

is it possible to have the 2 session grids kind of "linked" or "synchronised", so as the 2nd one to match the actual grid when we change a scene on the 1st launchpad?

that would be great...

Ive used 2, one for launching clips and the other with my Oktopad device for max4live in User 2, that way i have a super charged mixer control (no jumping of values with smoothing control) and a ton of effects and serato like looping...

Cheers
D
