Steinberg copies Live!

It seems that steinberg puts out a "copy" of Live, almost the same features: audioclips, PlugIns, timing...for the price of 49 USD

Hi,

Steinberg has not copied Live. The Remix software is based on licensed ableton technology. This product is targeted at a different audience than ableton's: it is not a tool for professional music production and does not have the features required therefore. It's an easily accessible piece of fun software. The ideal christmas present for your beloved ones!

is there any link to some info in english
and if not, exactly what is the difference between this and live. on the box
it looks like a dj, with some headphones playing his laptop, and its called Remix. does steinberg know that its not supposed to be geared twards professionals, because there is a picture in the abletons tutorial section that looks just like it, diff person though.

um.. not sure about that one.. not to sound rude or anything tho.. 50 bucks vs 250(what i paid for)
Rough translation....

- Any samples with out breaks combined
-soundfiles in real time without changes in pitch to adapt
-clips per mouse, keyboard start including automation looping
-sound in any order in groups playback
-timing and groove of loops as well as tone pitches indepente to to tone in.
- automatic syn compressing tempo possible.
-5 effects eq, autofilter, compressor, chours
- vst plugins virtual interface

sounds like live w/o midi ablity.. maybe im wrong tho.. but it does sound like it has what live has as its meat and potatoes..
funny tho that we had to find out that there was gonna be a smaller verision of live by someone spotting it on the web...

seriously, I doubt you would have considered Remix as an alternative even if it had been available by the time you bought Live. I say this because I suppose you are using at least some of these things, which are not in Remix:

- ReWire master and slave;
- MIDI in and out;
- Sync in and out;
- Audio input and recording;
- An unlimited number of tracks (Remix has only 8);
- Up to four sends (Remix has only 1);
- An unlimited number of scenes (Remix has only 16);
- Multi-channel audio input / output (Remix has only one stereo out);
- Erosion, FilterDelay, Grain Delay, Ping Pong Delay, Vinyl Distortion, Reverb;
- Unlimited VST support.

As you see, Remix cannot live up to Live (but is a lot of fun anyway).

It's just like Magix is selling a reduced and repackaged Logic or like Steinberg is selling Cubasis: A feature and price reduced version of the whole deal. I think it's great and I might buy it - I'm been playing with the Live demo for a quite some time now but couldn't make myself put down the €350,-. Now, a sub-$100 version is something different...
