Panning/Selecting Left or Right Sounds

Post by dcondax » Sat May 30, 2009 4:36 pm

Heya Everybody!

One of my clips contains a stereo track.

in the right i have more woodwind information
in the left i have more percussion.

what i want to do is get the clip to only play the left part out both left and right speakers.

so i want to mute the volume of the right track.

how do you guys go about doing such things?

peace
di

Open your wav editor, paste the right signal over the left signal [replacing it]
Save your file> job is done

Easy

pan the track hard left.
bounce to another track.
use the Utility plug in, set to 0%.

should work, never tried it too judge the effect it has on the overall sound and whatnot.

You could just use a Utility plugin on that clips audio track and choose left setting rather than stereo setting, assuming you're not using other clips in that audio track.

Otherwise I'd probably do what Hermanus suggests and use an audio editor.

Even simpler would just be put Utility in track, set input to Left. Done.

Has to be said, just incase. Save As, not save. as you'd replace your current file, and loose the stem of audio you replaced into the ether - which im gathering you wouldnt want to do.

Guys,

Thank you so much for the help. I'm using the utility for now, but will try the others in times when i need the extra processing power.

Muchos Gracias
