Midi cc Envelope with External gear

Post by robocop » Sun May 03, 2009 10:11 pm

Hello! it seems that midi cc in clip are not always working when assigned to an external synth.
Am I the only one who has this problem?
Thanks

have not tried that myself, but are you sure that the external device is capable of understanding those controllers? Try if it responds to pitchbend, if that works you are probably using controllers that your synth does not know of.

In fact, the midi cc# IS working but not when I launch the clip, because when I go and slightly move the envelope with the mouse while the clip is playing then I can hear that the filter frequency of the external synth works.
Also I can see that the last Live 8.0.2b3 bugfixes contain this : "Start playing would not always send a MIDI program change when required.[5443]",I do have problems with program change indeed, so I beleive there IS some problems with Live to communicate with external midi gear.

Thanks Filterstein

i had a problem that may be related. if the cc value is set to just send a single value it wasn't working for me, but when i changed it to send a minimum of two values it would work. i hope that gets fixed soon. i am curious to try this in an earlier version and see if it does the same thing.

Thanks Dgraph! I will try that

BTW by two values, you mean two events, that's right?

yeah i guess they call them midi events anytime something midi happens but i just mean a automating cc 50 (for example) on a 1 bar midi clip then in draw mode just drawing a horizontal line across to send one value, or send one midi event i guess. that doesn't work vs doing the above but then starting the midi clip sending a value 95 and ending on value 96 then magically it does work.
