Soft Cell - Tainted Love - Remake

Post by momentuk » Tue Nov 25, 2008 5:32 pm

Hey everyone! I thought id get you guys into this, i have to remake soft cells tainted love for my music technology coursework at school, and i just was curious to hear what you all had in terms of advice e.g sounds to use, effects etc...

Now i understand the french horn, orchestral swells and the main synth all came from the synclavier synth originally and the drums were from a 909 kit...

soo umm yeah.. lets see where this topic goes :D

No way man. 808 through and through. Maybe not just snare but also the 808 percussion or bell or something overtop of the snare and some reverb.

By the way, please remake the extended version. Since it's sooo much better...

I'd get the highest marks by not making a remake at all.
First play the original, than follow it by playing the 50-ish remixes already out there. Ranked from best to worst. By the time you get to the RnB renditions, everybody in the room will have lost the will to live.
Maybe dress up as Marilyn Manson to really drive the point home.

I never realized how much I loved this song until I heard the soft cell version being casually mixed with the rihanna version at some beach party..
The bad mix aside, even the soft cell version with a redux plugin set to maximum hard sounds better.

I heard a good reggae version once though. Teented Luve Man!

Ahh dudes im loving the talk.. but umm where's the help :-( drums are covered now, thanks for that one dom :D umm its an exact remake of the soft cell version by the way, no things can be changed to our taste.. e.g not a remix..

the synclavier was used to make nearly everything, how can i target these sounds through abletons.. e.g for the horn, swells, pads, and that feking beeep beeep sound!
