ground problem Rolls VP29

Post by dirtybomb » Sun Nov 02, 2008 5:09 pm

hi, i have a rolls vp29: http://www.planetdj.com/images/VP29.jpg

i connect a technics 1200 to it for use with ms pinky in ableton live. last weekend i had a show and got such a bad grounding problem, i had to give up on scratching at the last minute.

when i got home and set everything back up, i still had this annoying ground problem... today i unplugged eveything, and just plugged in the turntable and the preamp and still got the ground hum (headphones connected to the vp29's 1/4" jack). i tried every wall outlet and powerstrip i had as well.

finally i unplugged the turntable and went around to every wall outlet with just the VP29 and headphones plugged in to the 1/4" jack.

every outlet i tried i got hum from the vp29 with nothing plugged in except the headphones... if i touch the rca jacks or the metal on my headphones while its plugged in, the buz will temporarily go away.

everything seemed to work perfectly prior to my show last weekend.

im just wondering if somehow the vp29 got damaged... or if the buz im getting is normal and the problem resides elsewhere.

thanx!
