I have to say that since I've been a father, "Blimey" has been one of my most used words. Used to much cruder, but with the kids around, "Blimey" covers a lot of emotions.

you could try the "ear muff" technique so eliquently exlained in the movie 'old school'
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.
