LIVE 4 PERFORMANCE TEST
Hey Adam,
With TIger around the corner, and a rumored 50% G5 increase and 40% G4 increase (stats I found at osxaudio.com), will these number translate into a a real world performance boost for Macs? I'm not very knowledgeale about technical issues, but if Live still doesn't take advantage of hte Macintosh architecture, I'm not sure I understand why Live would see a performance boost as well, except maybe a slight one?
Listening to the Cincinnati mix btw...

Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.

Finally an affordable Mac with respectable performance. I will post again after I get another stick of matched RAM. Dual Channel is supposed to give better performance...we'll see.

That is excellent for the 2ghz iMac I'm way impressed by those stat's myself.
Easily on par with PC performance .
Hmmmmmmmmmm fights urge to go Mac based instead .
It would be a killer little system for Metasynth also .
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....

imac 2ghz
hi geraldo, nice one for posting the the new Imacs test...I'm really tempted to get one but a bit wary of the noise issue...do you find the fan noise loud when using the imac? i'm currently using a PB g4 1ghz, and although I'm not really even pushing it to its limit i like the way its dead silent, the fans are so quiet...do you find the imac heavy on the 'ol ears?

yo, thanks for the quick reply mate. i mentioned noise as the previous IMac revision had lots of complaints in the mac forums about messed up midplanes, noisy cpu fan, weird whines...but if they have sorted it out on this new revision that's quite excellent. the PB is shared with the missus and I need my own box, for the price the imac is sweet. any downsides in your opinion? portability is not an issue for me.

i don't notice any harddisk noise ever. And the fan kicks on only on hot days during cpu intensive situations. It sounds like every other powerbook fan, not too loud but not silent either. But it rarely seems to kick on.jah wrote:How silent are the latest 1.5ghz 12" powerbooks when used in cpu-intensive situations? What about harddrive noise? I'd like to know...
